Ed Magee is currently based in Hollywood, CA, serving as the SVP of Operations for Fender. He is responsible for OEM Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Planning, Logistics, Sourcing & Procurement, Quality and Continuous Improvement. Ed is passionately engaged in the production of Fender’s guitars, amplifiers and music accessories that fuel the pursuit of musical expression across the globe.


Previously, Ed served as Vice President of Operations/Distribution for Thomas & Betts, an ABB Member company where he had P&L responsibility for a $1billion business with 12 factories in the United States, Mexico and Puerto Rico.


Prior to Thomas & Betts, Ed was the General Manager of Harley-Davidson Motor Company’s York Vehicle Operations where he oversaw production of over 100,000 Touring and Softail motorcycles annually. Ed led the $100+ million physical and cultural transformation of the consolidated “New Factory York” from December of 2009 to February of 2014. Under his leadership, York Vehicle Operations was selected as a winner of IndustryWeek Best Plants 2013.


Ed earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics in 1987 from the U.S. Naval Academy. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from graduation until 2002 as a navigator in the A-6E Intruder with VMA(AW)-332 and the F/A-18D Hornet with VMFA(AW)-224. Departing the Marine Corps as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2002, Ed’s highest awards included the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal with Strike Flight Numeral 1, and the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal.


Ed has a Master’s degree in Public Administration from George Mason University and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the daytime MBA program at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. While at Fuqua, Ed was elected MBAA President and was the inaugural recipient of the Keohane Leadership Award. Ed was selected as a Diversity MBA Magazine 2009 Top 100 Under 50 Diverse Executive Leaders and a Savoy Magazine 2010 Top 100 Most Influential Blacks in Corporate America.
