STEM Center of Innovation
Grand opening and unveiling at Watts Willowbrook Clubhouse
On the afternoon of Friday, June 7th 2019, Watts Willowbrook Club members excitedly gathered for the unveiling of its new state-of-the-art Center of Innovation, designed to spark youth's interest in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) and shape the leaders of tomorrow. Funded by the Walt Disney Company, the Center of Innovation is equipped with modern technology such as a 3D printer, high-definition SMART board, tablets and laptops to help brainstorm unique ideas and innovate experiences.
Education in STEM is critical to the future success of our youth, as the fastest growing jobs in the U.S. require some education in STEM. As demand increases for STEM professionals, our Clubs strive to inspire curiosity and passion for these subject's. The new STEM Center of Innovation at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Los Angeles is one of 12 Boys & Girls Club recipients across the U.S. which is part of a $1 million grant from Disney.
