We were thrilled to welcome back our amazing alum and former Youth of the Year, Genesis Cruz, who inspired us with her empowering journey at the Boys & Girls Club. And to top it off, the BGCMLA Rock Band gave an electrifying performance that left the crowd in awe!

“We are grateful for the opportunity to recognize supporters who are dedicated to ensuring safe spaces for young people to learn, explore, achieve, and dream,” said Patrick Mahoney, President and CEO of BGCMLA.

“We are honored to partner with extraordinary leaders who share our commitment to maximizing our Clubs’ potential to serve more youth, more often and to building strong, sustainable organizations,” added Board Chair Karen E. Pointer.

The event also featured live performances by "Saturday Night Live" alumni Emmy Award winner Jason Sudeikis, Emmy-nominated Will Forte and Kristen Schaal, Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning legend Ted Danson, Academy Award winner Mary Steenburgen, and musician ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic. The event started with a cocktail hour and silent auction, dinner, and an after-party.

Febuary 1 , 2024 (Watts, CA) - As we commemorate our one year anniversary with Sony Music Group's Beyond The Instrument initiative and Notes for Notes, we are thrilled to once again swing open the doors of our recording studio at Watts-Willowbrook Boys & Girls Club. This collaborative effort, established in 2023, continues to serve as a beacon of hope and opportunity for club members eager to nurture their musical talents and aspirations. At the heart of this initiative lies a profound commitment to nurturing the next generation of music creators. Through a year-round program, students are granted free access to musical instruments, instruction, and state-of-the-art recording equipment. This holistic approach empowers them to develop not only as artists but also as producers, engineers, and composers for film and TV. As part of our annual program, leading up to the 66th Annual GRAMMY Awards, we invited Sony Music Group artists, songwriters, producers, and composers to the Watts-Willowbrook Boys & Girls Club in Los Angeles. Here, they engaged with students, sharing insights and experiences while marveling at the diverse array of projects spanning podcasting, rock bands, film scoring, production, and songwriting.
