Amazon Prime is teaming up with Boys & Girls Clubs of America to launch “Camp Prime,”
offering families safe and easy ways to help kids have fun and stay engaged this summer, no matter where they live. The program is free and available to everyone by visiting amazon.com/campprime, and includes easy and fun activities like building an indoor campfire (minus the flames) for an evening of storytelling and S’mores, learning to garden with an uncycled box, STEM ideas and more.
Prime is also committed to keeping Boys & Girls Club members around the country safe and healthy this summer, and is donating $500,000 to the organization to help Clubs across the country, including Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Los Angeles (BGCMLA), to offer safe and fun summer activities to youth and families, such as virtual programming options and ‘curbside camp’ kits available for pickup during our BGCMLA Activity Kit distribution.
Camp Prime Handbook
The Camp Prime Handbook is free and available for all to enjoy, not just Prime members. The digital handbook features easy and fun activities using items from around the house, including building a classic campfire (minus the flames) for storytelling and s’mores, visiting the camp canteen (aka your kitchen) for easy-to-make, healthy snacks from the Whole Kids Foundation, and learning to garden with an upcycled box. Prime members can also extend their experience through additional Camp Prime-themed content with Prime Video, Prime Reading, and Amazon Music as part of their memberships.
Plus, Amazon has enlisted a few experts for families to learn new skills and create together. From baking and crafts to wellness and dance, these guided video tutorials bring fun to the next level with Amazon Devices. Videos will launch daily from July 14 to July 18th on the influencer’s platform and live on the Amazon Day One blog
throughout the summer.
Even more fun…..
In addition to the handbook, starting on July 14, there will be updates to the blog with fun how-to videos from popular experts who will walk families through summer activities that can be enhanced with Amazon Devices. As many of you know, recent immigration activity in our city has caused fear and uncertainty for many of our Club members and their families. We feel it too. Our staff live here, our families live here, and our hearts are heavy. But our commitment has never been stronger. We will not be divided or discouraged. We will continue to stand by our youth and provide what they deserve: safety, dignity, and a place where they know they belong. Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Los Angeles will always be a safe haven for every young person, no matter where they come from or what they’re going through. At all of our locations, they will find kindness, stability, and a community that cares. We are grateful to our community for trusting us with their children. We are proud to walk beside them, and we’ll keep doing everything we can to ensure their safety, support, and empowerment. If you have any questions or concerns, we encourage Club parents to contact their home Club directly. Community partners who want to support our youth can reach us at info@bgcmla.org . We’re here and ready to help.
